Pheasant

In December of each year we offer two awesome pheasant hunts in Dalhart, Texas. Dalhart has always had an excellent pheasant population but in the past few years with the increase in dairy farms to that area, the pheasant population has exploded. With dairy farms come corn fields and hay fields and irrigation drainages. These are all perfect pheasant habitat. Our hunters almost always shoot their limit on pheasants each day. We typically have hunters walk in rows across a field and then we have a few hunters blocking at the end. The more hunters in a field the more birds will flush, and the greater the number of hunters the less miles of walking per hunter. Pheasant hunting is one of the few types of hunting where the more hunters you have the better the hunting is for everyone. There will be no shortage of birds or shooting opportunities. We don’t set a minimum on the number of hunters in a party; however, we do like to be able to combine groups when necessary to come up with a number around 20. With 20 hunters in a group, we can have twelve to fifteen hunters walking and five to eight blocking. This allows us to get good coverage on the fields and lets us alternate between who is walking and who is blocking. Our guests are welcome to bring their own dogs if they desire. We will use hotels, restaurants, and a caterer to provide meals and lodging on these hunts. The cost is $300.00 per guest per day with a two day minimum.
